Phillip Lynn, CPA, MBA
Phillip Lynn, CPA, MBA is a South Carolina native from Hartsville. He finished his undergraduate degree at The University of South Carolina with a BS in Business Administration, majoring in Accounting and subsequently earned a Masters in Business Administration from Francis Marion University. He also is a licensed CPA in the state of South Carolina. Phillip is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. Phillip’s experience includes tax consulting, planning and preparation for individuals and business, business entity selection, financial statement preparation & analysis and payroll & sales tax issues.
Phillip joined the team at William D. Trask, CPA, PA in June of 2001 and became a Partner of Lynn & Wheeler, CPAs, PA as of January 2006. Phillip enjoys spending time with his family, sports and fishing. Phillip is married to Wendi Potter Lynn and has two children Tency and Sellers.
Brett M. Wheeler, CPA
Brett M. Wheeler, CPA was born and raised in Summerville, South Carolina. He played baseball for the University of South Carolina – Beaufort and graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. Brett is a licensed CPA in the state of South Carolina. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. Brett has been with Lynn & Wheeler, CPAs, PA since January of 2012. His experience includes income tax preparation, consulting and planning for individuals and businesses across various industries, business entity selection, accounting and financial statement preparation and analysis. Brett is married to Tara M. Wheeler and they have a son named Luke. Brett enjoys spending time with his family, hunting and fishing.
Deborah Harper
Deborah Harper is originally from Stillmore, Georgia moving to Jasper County in 1983. She graduated from the East Georgia Junior College in 1978 with an Associate of Art degree.
Deborah joined Lynn & Wheeler, CPAs, PA in November 2013. She is married to Harry Harper. Deborah’s hobbies include reading, cooking and having fun with her grandchildren.
Jay Roberts, MBA
Jay holds a BA in Economics from the University of Kentucky and an MBA from Marshall University. He has over 15 years’ experience in all aspects of small to medium size business management, accounting, and operations. He spent 12 years with a commercial and industrial electrical contracting firm based in West Virginia, both as an employee and a partner. During that time he held various positions in accounting and operations management, ultimately becoming the firm’s CFO. In that time, he helped to operate and guide the firm through a period of growth from approximately 30 employees operating in one state to over 400 employees operating in five states.
Jay has extensive experience working with closely-held businesses and their owners, serving clients across a wide range of industries, including construction, real estate, retail, professional services, and technology sectors. He also has experience working with individuals in the area of tax preparation and planning. Jay lives in Beaufort with his wife and two children.
Amber Young
Amber was born and raised in Mooresville, North Carolina. She moved to beautiful Beaufort after graduating from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte with her Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. She joined Lynn & Wheeler, CPAs, PA in May of 2014. Her experience includes payroll, sales tax, tax preparation, and restaurant accounting. In her free time, Amber enjoys hiking, kayaking, snowboarding, and spending time with friends and family.
Marianne Hawkins, CPA
Marianne was born and raised in the South Carolina Lowcountry. She graduated from the University of South Carolina-Columbia with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and Management in 2010 and returned to school in 2017 to pursue her degree in Accounting. Marianne graduated from the University of South Carolina-Aiken with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. She is a licensed CPA in the state of South Carolina and is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. Marianne joined Lynn & Wheeler, CPAs, PA in May of 2018. Marianne is married to William J. Hawkins and they have a daughter named Harper. In her spare time, Marianne enjoys reading and spending time with her family.
Marcus Newberry
Marcus Newberry was originally born in Beaufort and lived in Charleston for most of his life. He attended Clemson University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He joined Lynn & Wheeler, CPAs, PA in June of 2019. Some of his experience includes preparation and analyzation of financial statements, payroll, sales tax, and both corporate and individual tax preparation. A few of Marcus’s hobbies include scuba diving, skiing, playing golf and reading.
Becky Wooten
A processor during the peak tax season, Becky Wooten joined our staff in 2012. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, she spent most of her working career as a Public Information/Education Specialist for the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service in the Upstate. Married to the senior pastor at The Baptist Church of Beaufort, she is the mother of a grown son and daughter and is a proud “Mimi” to granddaughter Avery. For fun, Becky likes to grow flowers, read nonfiction, and travel.
LindaPrice
Linda joined our staff in 2019 as a part time office assistant and tax processor, coming aboard with experience from CPA firms in Illinois and Tennessee. Linda and her husband, Floyd, moved to Lady’s Island in 2016 from Kentucky and are thoroughly enjoying the Low Country. Linda enjoys spending time with family which includes three sons, two stepsons and eleven grandchildren.
